Peter Farmakis, M.B.A.
Chief Executive Officer and Board Member 

Peter Farmakis is an accomplished executive with diversified leadership experiences in the life science industry, including biotech, molecular diagnostics, and medical devices. As the CEO of Gateway Biome, Peter leads the organization’s long-term strategy development. In addition to serving as Chairman of the Board for Gateway Biome and Covira, Peter’s past Board of Director roles include VitaHEAT Medical, Three Squared, and Health Industry Supply Chain Institute. 

Throughout his career, Peter has held multiple commercial leadership positions in General Management with large industry diversified life science organizations like Johnson & Johnson and Abbott Laboratories. Peter served as CEO VitaHEAT Medical and led successful exits for early-stage start-up companies, OraPharma and Unimed Pharmaceuticals. 

Peter completed the Post-MBA General Management Executive Development Program at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. Peter attained his M.B.A. in Marketing and Strategic Management from the University of Illinois at Chicago and his B.A. in Pre-Physical Therapy and Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
